North East Water Resources Network (NEWRnet)
Undergraduate Research Internships

Are you interested in learning more about protecting our water resources, and getting high quality information to decision-makers? The North East Water Resources Network has opportunities for undergraduate students to carry out research for 10 weeks during the summer – in our Vermont, Rhode Island and Delaware research locations.

Research interns will be part of teams who are investigating the impact of climate variability on water quality and quantity across the north-south gradient from VT to DE. They will investigate how to provide valuable and rapid information to stakeholders (resource users, resource managers, and policy makers) to lead to more time-efficient and better-informed land and water use decision making.

Dates: The internship lasts 10 weeks during the summer (June 6 - August 12, 2016). The program starts with a 2-day short course in Newport, RI from June 6th-8th and concludes with the student research symposium in Newport, RI on August 11th.

Financial Support: Stipend and required travel provided. Housing costs covered on some campuses.

Eligibility: Students who are rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors, and who are matriculated in one of the NEWRnet partner institutions are eligible to apply. Approximately 14 students will be selected for summer 2016.

Application: Thank you for your interest in the 2016 NEWRnet undergraduate internship program! Please read the 2016 Summer Research Descriptions and start your application below. The application deadline is February 19, 2016.

Students of a variety of academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Those with an interest, or a major in environmental science, environmental studies, natural resources, economics, or computer science/data visualization may find these research opportunities of particular interest.
