Fourteen undergraduates will participate in a summer research program June 3-August 12, 2014. The NEWRnet team developed an online application system, and designed a recruitment postcard that was mailed to all NEWRnet partner institutions in Vermont, Rhode Island and Delaware, as well as to Alabama A&M, Florida A&M, Texas A&M, Tuskegee University, University of Puerto Rico, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. At the time of this writing, the application period has ended, and review and selection is underway.

AM - What is NEWRnet? – Orientation talks at the University of Delaware, addressing key research areas; speakers will be live and via videoconference
PM – Field visits to Brandywine Creek (a municipal water source), the Wilmington drinking water treatment facility and Fair Hill Natural Resource Center, a monitoring site
June 5
AM – Visit to the Laboratory of Experimental and Applied Economics, UD
PM – Student field outing to Lums Pond State Park - and the zip line!
Dinner with students
June 6
AM – Students depart
Students are expected/envisioned to videoconference during the summer as they work on team projects.
